About Donna
I grew up in South Carolina, but 18 years ago, after falling in love with San Diego while vacationing, I made beautiful, sunny San Diego my home away from home for 16 wonderful years. I absolutely loved living in San Diego, particularly because the weather made being outdoors so enjoyable. However, when my father was put on hospice in 2022, I moved back to South Carolina to be with my family. I have continued my California-based practice from South Carolina via Telehealth. California Licensing Board regulations permit practicing with California residents via Telehealth from anywhere, as long as the provider is licensed in California and the client resides in California, which has allowed me the opportunity to be with my family during this critical time.

I am "daughter" to my very loving and supportive late mom, dad, and step-mom, who are thrilled to have me back in South Carolina after my having lived in San Diego for 16 years. I am "sister" to my beautiful, younger sis, who has also become my very best friend. In addition, my sister and I gained three adult step-brothers that became family to us in our early adulthood.

Now, for my favorite title of all, I am “Aunt Donna” to five amazing nieces and nephews. I am particularly close to my niece and nephew who are my sister’s children, both of whom have special needs. When I lived with them for a couple years, they said I became more than “Aunt Donna” and had become like a “second mom,” which was quite an honor. And life would simply not be complete without our beloved pets. Bella is our sweet and gentle, yet protective dog who thinks everyone who visits is really there just to see and pet her (haha). And Lucy is our beautiful, but sassy cat who pretty much thinks she owns the place and doesn’t mind telling us so!

I also consider friendship to be one of life’s greatest gifts, and I am eternally grateful to know and be known by some of the world’s most incredible women. I consider them to be an extension of my family.

I graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2001. I worked in the field of social work for a number of years before earning my Master’s degree in Social Work with an emphasis on Individual and Group Therapy from the University of South Carolina in 2005, at which time I began practicing clinically.

One of my greatest joys was when I first began in the field. I worked extensively with foster youth for more than 10 years, including pregnant and parenting foster youth; and, it’s through my work with foster youth that I was given the title, “Mother of Many,” by some of the foster youth, which is quite an honor indeed.

Other joys of mine include music, theatre, traveling, singing, writing, playing board games, group painting events, doing aqua Zumba, and more recently, exploring the best restaurants and eateries! Two of my newest hobbies are binge watching Netlix/TV shows with my sister and hosting game nights.

I warmly invite you to call me for a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. Success in therapy begins with finding the right therapist for you. I would be happy to discuss treatment options and how we might work together.
