Spiritual Health
Addressing one’s spiritual health is not a requirement of successful therapy. However, many individuals find that addressing their spiritual health is a vital part of their overall well-being and often find their faith to be a great source of strength and healing.
I am aware that not everyone is a spiritual person. For various reasons, many individuals do not subscribe to any particular set of spiritual beliefs. Others have become disconnected from their faith over time, or perhaps were wounded by the church or those who claimed to be people of faith. I address this because I am sensitive to these truths and seek to create a safe environment in which clients can freely express feelings and beliefs without judgment. Spirituality is not a requirement for success in therapy and is up to each individual.
That said, I have found that many individuals who identify themselves as Christians seek after and find comfort in knowing that their therapist understands their Christian beliefs and the biblical framework in which they seek to live their lives. I am a therapist who is also a Christian. Since I am a licensed therapist and not a pastoral counselor, I do not provide counsel or instruction on the Bible. However, I am experienced in providing therapy within a framework that incorporates a biblical perspective, as well as biblical principles and practices, when clients seek to integrate their Faith into therapy.
My goal is to foster a safe environment where individuals experience compassion and acceptance. All individuals are welcome regardless of their faith background.
